Hi all,
This is my first post of the year in 2026, also a way to celebrate the launch of my refreshed website and information. Welcome to my global marketing space and thank you for stopping by!
Being someone from Indonesia who worked in Singapore and now in the UK, I have spent 14 years of my life abroad to navigate towards international marketing strategy and tackling challenges across different industries. I think my experience would be beneficial for others who work in marketing-related roles, or marketing enthusiasts who are looking to start your own venture, no matter what it is you are in the right space now!
It was not easy to craft a compelling campaign messaging for the African market, and faced with the East Asian market the next day. However, it is pretty normal in my days when I became the Senior Digital Marketing Manager for IDP Hotcourses Abroad, the student media & community brand of IDP Education. And nope, it all began when I did B2B marketing for Wilmar International in Singapore to refresh their brand and have to deliver it for global trade exhibitions and communications. My experience taught me that being in a global environment further pushed my creativity and understanding of different cultures and their nuances, helping me to be a better marketer as I have always been pushed to think from diverse perspectives. One might choose a grandeur and elegant messaging style through a fancy looking 30 seconds reels video, whereas the other set of audience prefer sad stories turns happy.
My days are never the same, and this is what excites me about my job.. And this is also why I am aiming to share my experience and knowledge to a broader set of audience this year in 2026, with the hope of building better understanding between different cultural nuances and marketing practices around the world.
There are a few skills you need to master to craft and manage global marketing strategy:
- Update yourself on world affairs
- Be curious and open-minded when it comes to different cultures
- Get a strong set of team for each regions to be able to localize your content, not merely ‘translating’ stuffs
- Touch the empathy of your audience by making your messaging resonate to them
- Check the DATA, internally and externally. You need a proper research rather than assumptions.
- If you live abroad like me and you are doing the domestic market, immerse yourself into the culture and hangout with the LOCALS.
Stay tune in the space and follow my social media profiles to get the latest updates of what will be coming! Wish you all a great start of 2026 🙂
Warmest,
Bella Mazaya
